Another Tom DeLay Incident

3:06 pm EST June 21st, 2005 | Politics | 19 Comments

You know the guy who went into the Seattle courhouse with a grenade yesterday? Another guy who gets emboldened by the anti-judge kind of stuff peddled by DeLay, Cornyn, and company… Details:

The man had frequented the courthouse as well as the federal office building and often expressed “a disdain for the federal government as well as some of its policies,” U.S. Marshal Eric Robertson said.

Oh please. It says in the first freaking paragraph that the guy was pissed off about rulings regarding his having to pay child support, including the refusal of the FEDERAL COURTS to intervene. Yet you conclude it had to do with Tom Delay. Jeebus.

Do you get awards for engaging in such hack-dom?

  2. Dugger says:

    Oliver,

Jay C may have been a little hasty in his criticism. After all it was Seattle and the issue was child support payments. Now I don’t know about anybody else, but when I think Seattle, Washington and child support payments, the first thing that comes to mind is Texas congressman Tom Delay. I mean maybe there was a “delay” in payments.

It was DeLay/Cornyn who told us that the courts have no jurisdiction when we consider them “activist”, and if judges have to die – so be it.

  4. Vincent says:

It’s incredibly disingenuous and irresponsible of you, Oliver, to claim that these incidents have anything to do with DeLay at all.

    Shame on you, smear-monger.

  5. Jay C says:

It was DeLay/Cornyn who told us that the courts have no jurisdiction when we consider them activist , and if judges have to die – so be it.

Horseshit. They said nothing of the sort. It’s one thing to be a hack Oliver. It’s another to tell outright lies.

Bet you can’t back that up. Facts please. Where did Delay et al talk about judge’s having to die?

“Mrs. Schiavo’s death is a moral poverty and a legal tragedy. This loss happened because our legal system did not protect the people who need protection most, and that will change. The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior, but not today. “- Tom Delay

I think he was talking about the “afterlife”. Ask not for whom the bell tolls, Tom Delay, it tolls for thee.

  8. Dugger says:

    Neo,

Hope you understand this. What you “think”, the creative interpretation you put to his words, has a good deal less cedibility than the actual meaning of those words. When Delay says “good morning” you don’t get away with saying that really means “kill judges” – it really means “good morning’. Again there is ZERO, ZILCH evidence to back up Olivers ridiculous charge.

  9. BinkyBoy says:

Wow Dugger, you are so ready to read into Durbin’s remarks that America is Nazi Germany, but when we look at the quotes from the Republican Goon Squad with a critical eye suddenly we’re the ones taking things out of context.

Wow, you never do stop to think, do you?

  10. Dugger says:

    Fine Binky,

“Wow Dugger, you are so ready to read into Durbin s remarks that America is Nazi Germany”

Only minor problem, I’ve never said that. Durbin in effect equated the treatment of our Gitmo prisoners with the type actions committed by Pol Pot, Hitler and Uncle Joe. See the difference?

See when you “think” that Durbin was comparing the troops to Nazi’s, it doesn’t really mean that he is saying that. That is your creative interpretation of his words.

  12. neoconsrloopy says:

Oh, all credit goes to you Dugger. Except I wouldn’t have spelled “credibility” “cedibility” if I originated it.

That is beautiful prose and logic. I mean I’m used to a lot of – shall we say- less than brilliant stuff from you; but out of the blue comes this gorgeous gem. My congratulations, sir/mam.

“Oh, all credit goes to you Dugger.”

I think you mean “cedit” don’t you?

  15. Dugger says:

    Neo,

Maybe I meant cedibility: the inherent charcteristic of an object or article to be ceded. You don’t know! I’m not the one saying words have meaning. Wait. Yes I am; its a deeply held core belief. Never mind.

  16. JD says:

Am I understanding this right ? Some guy in Seattle is mad at a judge about a child support ruling, and his actions somehow reflect on Rep. DeLay ?

  17. Dugger says:

    Yes JD.

  18. JD says:

That pile of cow dung that the liberal justices ruled on today in re. eminent domain should get some people fairly pissed off. I suppose that it is Tom DeLay’s fault if I get mad when the government comes and takes my property. I suppose that somehow, I have no doubt about this, will ultimately be blamed on President Bush, Karl Rove, and Tom DeLay.

    Sounds like you, eh, Oliver?
When are you strapping on the grenades?
