The majority of Americans want reform? Not NeoCon reform, obviously

"Despite months of presidential effort, the nationwide poll found the public is not rallying toward Bush's vision of a new Social Security that would allow younger workers to put part of their payroll taxes into private investment accounts. Two-thirds said they were uneasy about Bush's ability to make sound decisions on Social Security.Only 25 percent said they approved of the way Bush was handling Social Security, down slightly from what the poll found in March."

25% a majority? Must be that "fuzzy math"

They lie about the SS reform when the poll asks:
So you support George's SS reform if it will bring Jessica Alba to your house for a visit.
no?
Do you support George's SS reform if you new it would let you retire at 35?
yes!

Excellent - most Americans support his SS reform...

Polls don't lie when they show Bush with a low approval rating.

They, apparently, do lie when they show the majority of Americans want Social Security reform.

pionar:

What made Bush "the Smarter" an awful president? I'm serious. I just thought he was a lame duck, that made the mistake of saying "no new taxes" before he fully understood how f'd up the federal economy was after Reaganomics.

All in all, Bush the Smarter seemed to be a heck of a lot more genuine and caring than Shrub the Destroyer.

Plus, I don't think polls should really matter to Bush anymore. He's got nothing to run for anymore. He can't be president again, and there's not really any higher office to run for.

The problem for Republicans is that the previous president often reflects on the next candidate. George H.W. Bush rode in on Reagan's coattails, then when people saw how awful he was, he was voted out in the next election. Bill Clinton reflected so bad on Al Gore not because Clinton was a bad president (I think he was a way better president than Reagan), but because he tied himself so closely to Clinton that the Republicans were able to beat him about the head with Clinton's private misdeeds. Then we got stuck with one of the most immoral presidents yet.

Well, I guess Oliver is right to live and die by these polls. I think if there is one more poll showing Jorge LaBush with a low approval rating, he must resign and we will install Dick Durban as Pres. Polls don't lie and they are much more important than those election type thingies.

Dugger (Could I have Another Sip of that Tasty Peoples' Kool Aid, Rev. Jones?)

The reason I don't like these polls are they don't tell the whole story. They don't say WHY people don't approve of his job in certain areas. It doesn't say why 75% don't approve. Is it because they think his plan is counterproductive (as I do)? Or is it that they don't think the plan goes far enough? Or do they think he's just not pushing hard enough?

Why do 69% disapprove of the way he's handling Iraq? Is it because the war was a dumb one to get involved in? Or is it that he's not being aggressive enough?

The better poll would be why people don't approve.
